WHAT IS THE ISST CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE

The ISST Certification Committee is responsible for recommending candidates for certification as ISST Members and for recommending ISST Members for certification as Teaching Members to the ISST Board of Directors. The Committee will coordinate and update the Member and Teaching Member lists in conjunction with the ISST secretary.

The Chair of the Certification Committee will keep the ISST President informed regarding the activity of the committee and any potential issues arising with complex applications. Once the Committee has verified that candidates have completed all necessary requirements for certification, this information is passed on to the President for ratification and issuing of the relevant membership certificates on behalf of the Board.

ISST MEMBER CERTIFICATION

The Certification Committee receives all applications for certification as ISST Members. Its function is to verify that all ISST requirements for certification have been fulfilled. Applications are received from all prospective ISST Candidates whether they have qualified through ISST Member Societies or as Independent Candidates from countries without ISST Member Societies.

Procedure

When a candidate has completed all ISST certification requirements, his or her Case advisor will submit the following items to the certification committee:

1. Appendix D, completed and signed off by:

a. The relevant therapist with whom the candidate has completed

his/her personal sandplay process;

b. Teachers, supervisors and case-advisor.

If original signatures are unavailable, the advisor may counter-sign once the advisor has verified original certifying documents. A copy of these original certifying documents should be kept by the applicant and can be requested by the Certifying Committee at their discretion.

2. Copies of the comments written by the three final case readers

If the Certification Committee has questions regarding fulfilment of training requirements, these questions will be discussed with the advisor and candidate. The Certifying Committee will decide whether it is appropriate for the matter to be referred to Exceptions Committee, if necessary.

PLEASE SEE ROLE OF ADVISORS PAGE FOR DETAILS ON HOW THE ADVISOR DEALS WITH CASES WHERE ALL THREE READERS DO NOT AGREE ON ACCEPTING THE CASE
